Primary Education Program

Our primary education program is designed to provide a strong foundation for children aged 6-12 years. We follow the Ugandan National Curriculum, enhanced with innovative teaching methods to foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Located in the heart of Kampala, we provide a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Target Audience: Children aged 6-12 years in Uganda.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Proficiency in literacy and numeracy.
  • Understanding of basic scientific concepts.
  • Development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Cultivation of social and emotional intelligence.
  • Appreciation for Ugandan culture and heritage.

Curriculum Highlights: Integrated English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Creative Arts programs. Regular field trips to local landmarks and cultural sites.

Teachers: The primary program is led by Head Teacher, Ms. Aisha Nakato, a dedicated educator with over 15 years of experience in primary education. Ms. Nakato and her team of experienced teachers are committed to providing personalized attention to each student ensuring they reach their full potential.

Secondary Education Program

The secondary education program at The Beacon of Learning Academy caters to students aged 13-18 years. Our curriculum prepares students for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations. We offer a diverse range of subjects, including sciences, humanities, and vocational courses, to cater to different interests and career aspirations.

Target Audience: Students aged 13-18 years in Uganda.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Comprehensive understanding of core academic subjects.
  • Development of advanced critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Preparation for UCE and UACE examinations.
  • Exploration of potential career paths through vocational courses.
  • Enhancement of leadership and teamwork skills.

Curriculum Highlights: Special emphasis on STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Partnerships with local businesses to provide internship opportunities. Extracurricular activities include debate club, science club, and sports teams.

Principal: Mr. Okello Obote serves as the Principal of the Secondary Education program. Mr. Obote holds a Master's degree in Education and has a proven track record of academic excellence and student development. He believes in fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration among students and teachers.

Vocational Training Programs

Our vocational training programs are designed to equip students with practical skills that are in high demand in the Ugandan job market. We offer courses in tailoring and design, carpentry and joinery, catering and hospitality, and information technology. These programs are tailored to provide hands-on experience and prepare students for immediate employment or entrepreneurship.

Target Audience: Young adults and adults seeking practical skills for employment in Uganda.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Acquisition of practical skills in a chosen vocational field.
  • Understanding of industry standards and best practices.
  • Development of entrepreneurial skills and business acumen.
  • Preparation for immediate employment or self-employment.
  • Enhancement of problem-solving and adaptability skills.

Curriculum Highlights: Hands-on training in well-equipped workshops and kitchens. Guest lectures from industry experts and entrepreneurs. Assistance with job placement and business startup support.

Vocational Coordinator: Ms. Fatima Kasirye is the Vocational Training Coordinator. With a background in vocational education and extensive industry experience, Ms. Kasirye is dedicated to providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen fields.

Tailoring and Design Program: Students learn the fundamentals of sewing, pattern making, and garment construction. They gain experience in creating various types of clothing, from traditional Ugandan attire to modern fashion designs. Graduates can find employment in tailoring shops or start their own businesses.

Carpentry and Joinery Program: This program focuses on teaching students the skills needed to work with wood and create furniture, doors, and other wooden structures. Students learn about different types of wood, joinery techniques, and finishing methods. Graduates can find employment in construction companies or start their own carpentry workshops.

Catering and Hospitality Program: Students learn the art of cooking, baking, and serving food. They gain experience in preparing a variety of dishes, from local Ugandan cuisine to international specialties. They also learn about customer service, event planning, and restaurant management. Graduates can find employment in hotels, restaurants, and catering companies.

Information Technology Program: This program provides students with the skills needed to work in the IT industry. They learn about computer hardware, software, networking, and web development. Graduates can find employment as IT technicians, web developers, or data entry clerks.

Scholarship Program

The Beacon of Learning Academy is committed to providing access to quality education for all deserving students, regardless of their financial background. Our scholarship program offers financial assistance to students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. Scholarships are awarded based on merit and need, and cover tuition fees, boarding fees, and other educational expenses.

Target Audience: Academically gifted and financially disadvantaged students in Uganda.

Scholarship Criteria: Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic performance and financial need. They must also submit a personal essay outlining their educational goals and aspirations. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.

Application Process: Applications for scholarships are accepted annually. Applicants must complete an application form and submit supporting documents, including academic transcripts, financial statements, and letters of recommendation.
